We inspect the roof and the array, photograph the layout and the condition of the panels, and confirm who owns the system — owned, financed or leased changes who has to be notified.

Panels, rails and mounts come off and are stored on site. The system is shut down properly rather than just unbolted.

Roof Work
Re-roof, underlayment replacement or repair happens with clear access to the deck — including the area under the array that nobody has been able to see for years.

Reinstall & Verify
The array goes back in its original layout on new flashing and sealed penetrations, bird screening is reinstalled, and the system is brought back online and checked for production.

Do solar panels have to be removed to replace a roof?
Yes. The roof under the array is the roof, and it can't be torn off or re-felted with panels bolted over it. The panels come off, the work happens, and the array goes back on.
Can one company do both the roof and the panels?
That's exactly what this service is. We're a licensed roofing and solar contractor, so the removal, the roofing and the reinstall are one scope, one schedule and one company standing behind the result.
My panels are leased or third-party owned. Can you still do the work?
Often yes, but leases and power purchase agreements sometimes require the original installer to handle the array, or at least to be notified first. Check your agreement, and we'll coordinate around whatever it requires.
Will removing the panels void my solar warranty?
It depends on your equipment and installer agreements. Some require licensed work and documentation, which we provide. Read your warranty terms before scheduling, and we'll work within them.
Can you fix a leak around a solar mount without removing the whole array?
Frequently, yes. If the leak traces to one or two penetrations and the surrounding underlayment is sound, we can pull a small section, repair it, and put it back. We'll tell you honestly when the area is too far gone for that.
Should I replace my roof before installing solar?
If the roof is anywhere near the end of its life, yes. Paying to remove and reinstall an array a few years after it goes up costs far more than doing the roof first — which is the whole reason we do both.
How long does the roof stay open?
The array is off for as long as the roofing work takes, and that depends on the size of the roof and what we find under the tile or shingles. We give you the expected window in writing before we start and keep the roof dried in overnight.
